Dr. Sylvia R. Medley
Dr. Sylvia R. Medleyis a native Washingtonian. She graduated from The Catholic University of America with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology in 1982, and then graduated in 1986 from the University of Nebraska Medical Center with her medical degree. Upon graduation, Dr. Medley began her residency work in Internal Medicine at the Homewood Hospital (a Johns Hopkins affiliate) in Baltimore, Maryland.
Dr. Medley worked for 12 years in Emergency Medicine at Harbor Hospital Center. Dr. Medley then pursued further graduate education while working in Baltimore at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health. She obtained her Master’s in Public Health in 1995. She has completed a residency in Preventive Medicine and a Fellowship in Occupational Medicine. She is honored to have been the first African American Chief Resident of Preventive Medicine.
Dr. Medley is board certified in Internal Medicine and has been in private practice since 2004 and most recently a Hospitalist in South Dakota.
Dr. Medley has appeared on NBC 4 News, Fox News and Channel 9 News to discuss various health topics.
